EPS Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports
Dear EPS Families,
Over the past few weeks, our students have been busy learning and practicing our school-wide expectations in every area of the building. At EPS, we focus on three core expectations: Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be Safe. Each morning during our school chant, we also emphasize another powerful word—TOGETHER. We remind students that together doesn’t mean we all have to be best friends, but it does mean we treat everyone with kindness and work to get along.
As part of reinforcing these expectations, students earned EPS Tickets for demonstrating positive behaviors. The more tickets they collected, the more entries they had for our PBIS Kickoff Assembly activities.
This past Friday, we celebrated with our first PBIS Kickoff Assembly of the year! Students had the chance to watch (and participate in) fun staff vs. student relays—even Superintendent Philpot joined in! The assembly ended with a highlight that had everyone cheering: our “Pie in the Face” activity, where 12 lucky students were drawn to select a staff member to pie.
Looking ahead, at the end of each quarter we will host a Quarterly PBIS Incentive to recognize students who consistently follow our expectations. To participate, students must meet the following criteria:
- Earn 150 EPS points
- Have fewer than 3 office referrals
- Have not missed an excessive amount of recess due to behavior
- Be in good standing based on teacher discretion
- Maintain strong attendance with no excessive unexcused absences (tardies are included)
